HANNAH VEHICLE SERVICES COMPANY HISTORY~

We’ve been in business for over 90 years through three generations. Grandfather, R.J. (Russell) Hannah, started a small repair shop called "IDEAL GARAGE"in 1912. Always keeping a small tightly-run business. 
He acquired a Pontiac dealership in Cobourg in the late 1920s and operated it until his health turned for the worse and he was forced to retire. But you could not keep the Hannah family out of the car business for long. A few years later he opened a repair and used car lot just out side of Cobourg in the town of Baltimore. With the help of his son Don, Russell built the business up to a thriving enterprise. 
In the 1940s, Don Hannah took up his father's mechanical trade and business was so good Don moved it to a larger building. Don worked very hard to keep his family business prospering. Many changes took place through the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s right up to present day. In the 1960s, snowmobiles and Mercury outboard motors joined the Hannah line of products but it wasn't long until Don Hannah returned to used car sales exclusively.
In the 1970s Don got into selling new cars.  A Mazda Dealership came first and with the new dealership, the Hannah's business moved back into the town of Cobourg. After a time Don got out of the Mazda Dealership and became an A.M.C. new car dealer but this venture was short-lived. Don wanted to buy, sell or rent different products and could not because of his agreement with A.M.C. The Hannah's decided to go back into the traditional used car sales.
Back as the 1950s came to a close there was a new named Greg on the scene. Greg grew up around the Hannah business so there was no question of Greg's calling in life. When all this was going on, Greg Hannah was in Michigan working on his marketing degree and later went to work with a large G.M. dealer in western Canada. It was always Greg intention to return to Cobourg with his new skills and carry on the Hannah business that his father and Grandfather built. Greg has been running the day-to-day operations of Hannah Motors for several years now and has built the daily rental, sales, leasing, and service up to its present level.
